What is counselling?
Counselling involves a collaborative working relationship between client and counsellor, “to facilitate self-knowledge, emotional acceptance and growth and the optimal development of personal resources. What are types of counselling approaches?
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-based, Motivational Interviewing, Person-Centered, Career exploration tools
There will be homework/exercises to complete between sessions to practice strategies discussed during sessions, to learn new skills and develop helpful habits. Your active participation and consistency in completing these exercises are very important to make a positive change and improve well-being. If you have any questions or concerns about your sessions, be sure to let your counsellor know.
What is vocational rehabilitation?
“Vocational Rehabilitation Professionals develop and execute vocational rehabilitation and return-to-work plans designed to achieve or restore optimum vocational and avocational outcomes. Career counselling service is also available for youth and adults. Several career exploration tools are used to check for interests, preferences of work activities and working conditions, and labour market information.
What is the current available schedule?
Available for virtual counselling sessions during Tues to Thursday evenings. Counselling is by appointment only. Outside of the scheduled session, please contact the Crisis Line at 1800-784-2433 . Call 911 or visit Emergency at the nearest hospital if you require immediate help.
How long is the session?
Each session is scheduled for 50 minutes, but we can accommodate special requests or alternative session lengths upon booking.
How much does counselling cost?
Fees: $160 per session
Is the service covered by any health plan?
At present, counselling service is not covered by the provincial health plan. You may have coverage through your private extended health benefits plan. Please contact your insurance company to confirm coverage details and reimbursement process. Direct billing is not available.
